SEYCHELLES

The Seychelles are a tropical paradise in the Indian Ocean, around 1,600 kilometers east of Africa. The archipelago consists of 115 islands, many of which are uninhabited and are characterized by their breathtaking beaches, lush rainforests and rich biodiversity. The capital Victoria is located on the main island of Mahé, which is also home to the international airport. In addition to its beautiful nature, the Seychelles are known for their rare animal species, such as the Aldabra giant tortoise, and their vibrant Creole culture. The climate is warm all year round, making the islands an ideal destination for sun worshippers and nature lovers.

THE STORY

Eveline visited the Seychelles a few times more than 25 years ago and fell in love with the island of La Digue and its people and culture. She had many friends there at the time and so her wish to visit the Seychelles again 25 years later became a reality. In 2023, we booked a five-week vacation with friends starting at Christmas. As there were no surf skis in the Seychelles, we simply brought our own.

After an adventurous journey, we arrived on La Digue with our surf skis and put the boats on the road in the harbor. The first person we met was an old acquaintance of Eveline's from back in the day. He took photos of our surf skis and told us about a friend who had paddled around the main island of Mahé on a similar device a few weeks ago. The whole thing was broadcast live on TV and was a great spectacle. The proceeds from the challenge went to a children's hospital on La Digue. Now everyone knew who Fred was and what a surf ski looked like.

One day after our arrival, Fred stood in our garden on La Digue and introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Fred, the only surfski paddler in the Seychelles" The rest is history.

THE DIGUE

«KAZ LA DOUCEUR»

Located 1 km from Anse La Réunion Beach, Kaz Ladouceur offers accommodation with parquet floors, a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. Both WiFi and private parking are available at Kaz Ladouceur free of charge.

Some apartments feature air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a washing machine, an electric kettle and a kitchen. Cycling is possible nearby.

Near Kaz Ladouceur are places of interest such as Anse Severe Beach, La Digue Marina and Notre Dame de L'Assomption Church.

Trip FAQS

The flight time from Zurich Airport to the main island of Mahé is approximately 9 hours. From there, a ferry goes to La Digue. The crossing takes one and a half hours. Note: The ferries are air-conditioned. Be careful.

Seychelles cuisine is a diverse and exotic mix, with African, Indian, French, Chinese and Creole influences. This culinary diversity reflects the islands' multicultural history. Fresh seafood plays a central role, with fish, squid and crab often taking centre stage.

Fresh fruits such as mango, papaya and pineapple as well as local spices such as cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg are also characteristic of Seychelles cuisine. These dishes offer an explosion of flavours that reflect the cultural diversity and natural riches of the islands.

We offer impeccable, well-maintained equipment that is ideally suited to our offer. Sturdy surf skis from Epic and Nordic Kayaks, wing paddles from NK, life jackets from Vaikobi and leashes from NK are part of the basic equipment. We recommend sun protection textiles, polarized glasses from Vaikobi (Australia) and sun cream from Skinnies (New Zealand). Both can be ordered from us. Shortly before departure you will receive a detailed packing list with recommendations from us.

The Seychelles have a tropical climate with warm temperatures and high humidity all year round. Overall, the Seychelles are an attractive travel destination all year round, although the best time to travel can vary depending on personal preferences. Since it is always very warm, heavy, usually short rains are not a problem. The air temperature is around 30 degrees. The water temperature is 27 degrees.

Due to the small size and nature-oriented lifestyle on La Digue, motorized vehicles are rare and strictly regulated to protect the environment and preserve the island's tranquil atmosphere.

Bicycles are the most popular and widely used mode of transport on La Digue. Most visitors and locals use bicycles to get around. There are many places to rent bikes and the island has well-developed bike paths.

The tides in Seychelles, like in most tropical regions, are a regular and predictable phenomenon caused by the gravitational pulls of the moon and sun. Here are some important points about the tides in Seychelles:

Tidal Pattern: Seychelles typically experiences two high tides and two low tides within about 24 hours, known as a semidiurnal tide pattern. This means that there are two high tides and two low tides each day.
